“What if I could use all these IoT devices I have to improve my home security?”

• Desktop UI (we can worry about mobile devices at a later stage).

• The fidelity you present is up to you i.e. wireframes are fine, but do include any relevant

  copy that will help to convey your design concepts.

  We want to see your process and all your thinking (don’t throw stuff away!). You can photograph any additional work and add it as an appendix to your presentation. We’ll ask you to send us a copy of your presentation after the call.

• Focus on one persona: They are tech savvy and have 6 IoT devices:

  • 1 Nest Audio
  • 1 Ring Video Doorbell Pro
  • 1 Nest Learning Thermostat
  • 3 other IoT devices of your choosing

• The user should be able to manage the devices that they have.

• The user should be alerted to unusual behaviour, and be able to view that information.

• One of the devices should be in a state of error, e.g. it is offline.

The UI should include information on returning this device to its non-error state.

Things is defined as a “proposed development of the Internet in which everyday objects have network connectivity, allowing them to send and receive data.”

I began researching IOT's that fit the theme of home security or have functions that can be used as security features indirectly.

Types of Smart Devices

• Nest Audio
  • Voice Match - add up to 6 accounts. Stores query activity on google account when it doesn't recognise your voice. Guest mode deletes this data.
  • Nest Aware Subscription- sound detection allows listening for glass breaking or smoke alarms. If one of those has been detected live listening is enabled and you can use your mic or call emergency services.
