A successful presentation is one that remains in your audiences mind even once it's finished.
Nervous are expected when you have to give a presentation but there are ways in which you can overcome this, other than just practice and experience. Nervousness is the same kind of feeling as excitement, if you tell yourself that you are excited to give the presentation, turning a negative emotion such as nervousness into a positive one like excitement.
Body language is large part of giving a presentation. Correcting your posture and putting your head up can make you appear more confident as well as commanding a presence in your room. Your audience will feel more confident in your delivery as you look confident in what you're saying.
Aspects such as eye contact can help your audience to feel that even though you are speaking to a room of people, that you are still trying to reach each individual with the points you're making. This also means that each individual will feel included and will more likely be engaged with what you're saying.
Avoid using too much text. If the audience are faced with walls of text they may not even hear what you're saying as they're trying to read the slide. The slides should come as a supplement to what you're saying and not a distraction. You should be the main focus during your presentation.
Using plain English means that your audience will more quickly understand what you're trying to say instead of using technical jargon that may be unfamiliar to the majority. Be succinct!
